Great cities have great parks — and Galion should be no exception.
Parks are more than just green spaces. They’re where families gather, kids explore, seniors walk, and neighbors connect. They’re reflections of how much a city values its people.
That’s why I’m committed to the idea of Galion having the best parks in north central Ohio — not someday, but now.
We’re fortunate to have the Freese Foundation — a rare and powerful asset. I believe those funds should first be used to build and improve parks that serve all residents. Once that foundation is strong, we can consider broader projects that stay true to that mission.
Here’s how we do it:
- Prioritize Freese Foundation dollars for park upgrades and new green spaces
- Establish a dedicated maintenance fund to keep parks safe, clean, and inviting year-round
- Expand programming through public-private partnerships — sports, music, arts, fitness, and more
- Ensure every part of Galion, including the east and south sides, has modern, accessible parks
But it’s about more than playgrounds and pavilions. It’s about creating places that feel like they belong to everyone — spaces where community is built, memories are made, and people of all ages feel welcome.
Let’s not settle for average.
With thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and a commitment to equity, we can transform our parks into spaces that inspire pride — and help define Galion’s future.
Let’s build the kind of parks that make Galion a city we’re proud to call home.
