About Thomas

Thomas Palmer is a licensed attorney and proud graduate of Galion High School, the University of Utah, and The Ohio State University. He served as an elected official for the City of Galion for 11 years, during which he authored nearly every major economic development contract entered into by the City between 2013 and 2025—over $30 million in agreements that were highly favorable to Galion taxpayers.

Personal, Professional, and Community Leadership

  • Drafted and negotiated key contracts that shaped Galion’s economic growth from 2013–2025.
  • Father of two Galion High School graduates, Judson and Caroline.
  • Founder and board member of multiple local nonprofit organizations, including the Galion Alumni Association, Main Street Galion, the Galion Historical Society, and other community-focused groups.
  • Envisioned, championed, and drafted legislation that enabled Galion City Schools to develop its campus into the future.
  • Guided economic revitalization efforts in Ohio cities such as Chillicothe, Springfield, Lisbon, Urbana, Salem, and Tiffin.
  • Led downtown development in Delaware, Ohio, fostering a vibrant business district.
  • Maintains strong connections with statewide officials who can help Galion address future challenges.

Deep Local Roots and Engagement

Thomas draws his greatest inspiration from Galion itself. He is actively involved with local faith communities and civic groups, and he makes time to contribute in meaningful ways, including:

  • Marching with the Galion Tiger Alumni Band
  • Volunteering with the Galion Community Theatre’s productions
  • Contributing to restoration efforts at the Gill House
  • Championing causes that strengthen the community
